On Sunday night (October 5), it's the long weekend (YAY) and it's also the return of UNDR ctrl's FREE Strictly Vinyl par-tay at The Cliff Dive, featuring some of our fave artists playing 2 hour vinyl only sets. Sampology, Kato and Marcus King will be digging deep through your record collections for your dancing pleasure and we caught up with long-serving FBi Radio host and one half of Wordlife, Kato for a lil' natter about his love of vinyl...
How many records do you have in your collection?
Oldest record in your collection?
I dunno I'm not major fussed on chasing down old ones maybe some Led Zeppelin albums or old Blue Note Jazz compilations.
Newest record in your collection?
The new Clap Clap album on Black Acre I picked up yesterday.
Most expensive record in your collection?
I don't really care about the value as long as the music is good, that said though I have tons of records collectors would froth over.
Which record would you NEVER sell?
Deluxe edition of Beastie Boys ‘Paul's Boutique’ - not really that valuable just my favourite album.
What’s the sexiest cover in the collection?
Haha depends of your definition of sexy! I have one that's straight up porn - people in Santa hats having a hectic orgy but a nice naked African woman always wins it for me.
Best hidden gem you never knew you had?
I know my collection pretty well but I'm hoping there's still a few gems in there - I often will go watch a DJ and think oh that's a dope record then find I already have it! DPLAY's ‘Sudeestrasse’ is one of those thanks Naysayer & Gilsun.
Where do you buy your records from?
The Record Store [255 Crown St, Darlinghurst] and lots of second hand crate digging I don't really fuck with the internet.

The Record Store.
