Sydney duo Kamaliza and Nathan aka Olympic Ayers, have been making some pretty sweet ass music since way back in 2011. In preparation for next week's 1st Birthday bash we got down and personal with the boys about their funkin' jams and drinking till dawn...
UC: Describe your on stage style and set up?
OA: We keep it pretty simple, keys, guitar, bass, drums and synth.
UC: How did you celebrate your most recent birthday?
OA: It’s probably a good thing I don’t remember.
UC: When is the last time you volunteered/donated to charity/did a favour for a mate?
OA: Nepalese got hit pretty hard. I was more than willing to help out by donating.
UC: What is the most undr ctrl and the most out of ctrl thing in your life right now?
OA: Paul Stix on both accounts, the man cannot be tamed!
UC: You played Marmalade Skies Festival earlier in the year, what has been your all time favourite festival highlights – both as an artist and a punter?
OA: The crowd were really turnt at that show, it’s the first time I’ve felt “Crowd Control”. They were so involved and lovely.
UC: You finished up last year with a national tour for the ‘Leisureplex’ EP, what were the best and worst memories from travelling together?
OA: The best - drinking at dusk. The worst - hangovers at dawn.
UC: Have you guys been working on new Olympic Ayres material since then or taking a bit of a break from the writing game?
OA: No new material right now, I’m heading overseas for an extended holiday and hoping to return inspired and re-invigorated.
UC: You’ve both done a bit of travelling recently, where have you been and where do you wanna go next?
OA: I’ll be doing a mass euro trip in August to October and will be holidaying in a bunch of amazing places; Amsterdam, Ibiza, Barcelona, Nice, Berlin, Istanbul, Rome, Munich, Prague, Newcastle, Ibiza (Again) & finishing in London. Pretty damn excited!
UC: If you represented Australia in the Olympics, which sport would you compete in and how would you go?
OA: Weightlifting, it suits our DJ style in the way we drop dirty funkin beats.
