The Island LIVE kicks off 2017 with another unmissable line-up on Sydney Harbour with a very special performance from Sydney’s favourite twins, Cosmo’s Midnight alongside a wave of rising electronic stars Kuren, Mickey Kojak and Groove City plus the MAKER Baes.
On Friday 6th January The Island LIVE music series flies over halfway stage of the exclusive summer music series having already hosted Late Nite Tuff Guy, Nina Las Vegas, Yahtzel and the much hyped imminent Falcona Takeover. For the January sunset session we team up with our buddies at the MAKER Agency to showcase some of tomorrow’s biggest stars.
Cosmo’s Midnight are maestros of the mix-n-match, purveyors of electronic beats, clad with a solid R’n’B sensibility, with a tasteful touch of the heart of house. Hailing from Sydney’s inner west, the duo have curated a unique and distinctive sound that has earned them critical acclaim from all corners of the globe. Case in point being their standout EP ‘Moments’ featuring the stunning singles ‘Walk With Me’ ft. Kučka and ‘Snare’ ft. Wild Eyed Boy. The twin producers began to garner attention with high-profile remixes for a list of home-grown and international talents, including Anna Lunoe, Snakadaktal, Panama and, most notably, the official rework of Flume’s hit ‘Sleepless’. You will have seen Cosmo’s Midnight on the festival stages at Splendour In The Grass, Big Day Out, OutsideIn, Field Day and Listen Out, but now you get to experience them like never before, aboard our strictly limited capacity floating pontoon on Sydney Harbour, with no-one but the fishes for company!
18 year old producer Kuren is the 2016 winner of the triple j Unearthed National Indigenous Music Awards competition and one of the most exciting breakthrough artists in Australia. His latest single ‘Home’ ft. Ben Alessi has been blowing up all other the joint and he joins us on The Island LIVE fresh from supporting Just A Gent on his national tour.
Mickey Kojak is another hotly tipped artist to watch out for in 2017. ‘Feel My Pain’ was his standout debut single, and he’s back in the groove with new cut ‘Bones’. In between the beats he’s hit up the stages at Splendour in the Grass and Groovin The Moo, established himself as a vocalist in his side-project The Tapes, and honed his mixing skills supporting heavy hitters A-Track, What So Not and Hayden James. Completing the line-up are Sydney funksters Groove City and the MAKER Baes. This is gonna be BIG!
The January edition of The Island LIVE returns to our old stomping ground location, with water taxis departing from Double Bay Wharf.
