The Lab is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective's weekly live stream, powered by Void Acoustics, where we showcase the finest DJs direct from our world famous international office party. This week fresh from touring Australia and New Zealand with Dutch Producer GANZ, we welcome Akouo to The Lab SYD this Friday 5th August.
Akouo has over 10 years of experience in the Australian electronic music scene, becoming the first ever Tasmanian-based act to play Splendour in the Grass back in 2015. His breakthrough EP ‘Mesa’ rocketed to #1 on the iTunes Electronic chats led by the highly acclaimed single ‘Not Enough’ featuring his signature synth tones and heavy bass lines.
His originals and remixes have cracked the Top 10 on Hype Machine 6 times and counting, with an extensive collection of official remixes for ZHU, Flume, Shy Girls and many more. His latest remix for GANZ ‘Light Years’ featuring Maribelle is huge. With plans to finish off the year in the Fiji Islands, Akouo will play a massive DJ set at Your Paradise Festival alongside Skrillex, What So Not and Anna Lunoe.
If you’re lucky enough to be in The Lab SYD this week you’ll hear the world premiere of his next single ‘Feel That’ featuring breaking Australian vocalist Montaigne.
This weeks Lab SYD kicks off at the usually time of 6pm (AEST) and you can tune in live over on the Mixmag Facebook page.
