Big start to the year with significant festival performances from the likes of Roland Tings, Set Mo and Just A Gent. The Lab SYD resumed well into 2017 with the likes of &ME [pictured], The Hacker and Young Franco amongst Mixmag's live streamed guests. Plus pop-up party Extra Pulp quenched our thirst on Aus Day Eve with a harbourside boogie from CC:DISCO!, Jono Ma and Dreems.
Singer/songwriter Annie Bass released her massive 1,000,000+ Spotify-streamed and triple j high rotated single 'Don't Want' to rave reviews. In the same month MUTO dropped his first of 3 big singles for the year, with 'Through the Fog' racking up radio rotations all over the country. Out on the road, Set Mo kicked off their 10 date 'Never Ending Summer' tour.
Season 3 of The Island LIVE wrapped up over Easter and was the biggest series to sell with 8 sold out parties and headliners including Norman Jay MBE, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Cosmo's Midnight and Touch Sensitive. MUTO returned with big track #2 'Wildfire' and Jensen Interceptor joined Boys Noize on his national tour. Meanwhile yeahsure were busy doing shoeys with Post Malone in the studio.
A few big tours were popping off in the Autumn months beginning with Roland Tings' biggest hard ticket national run to date - supporting his 'Each Moment A Diamond' EP. MUTO was out sharing the stage with Cosmo's Midnight and Set Mo were kicking off their extensive 16 date headline club tour 'Panoramic'.
UNDR Ctrl HQ welcomed two amazing new artists to the ranks in the shape of Sydney electronic pairing Polographia and San Holo's Dutch future bass proteges DROELOE. May also marked the celebration of '5 Years of Motorik' with a fitting run of the scene's favourite underground basements. Plus Luen Jacobs jumped on the Groovin the Moo national tour to rave reviews.
Just A Gent came of age with his biggest national hard ticket tour to date in support of his latest single 'You'll Never Know' ft. MOZA. With sold out shows across the tour, JAG introduced his new look live show featuring guest vocalists. He later supported San Holo both across Australia in October and then around North America throughout November - December.
The month was dominated by Splendour in the Grass and standout performances from Set Mo and Bag Raiders - who slayed in the Mix Up stage and reminded us what a beast their live show is! A sold out sideshow tour followed for the LA-based stars, whilst Set Mo released Hottest 100 contender 'I Belong Here' ft. Woodes. The singer jumped up on stage alongside KLP and ASTA for a special live moment. Elsewhere, Luen Jacobs kicked off her 13 date headline club tour.
UNDR Ctrl celebrated it's 3rd Birthday with a full club takeover at Sydney's Goodbar, where the rave was real! Total Giovanni hopped on a plane around the country as main support for Client Liaison playing to huge crowds, whilst MUTO supported Crooked Colours and released track #3 'Say Nothing'. Set Mo introduced their Stamina Session club concept to sold out venues in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, whilst hosting their biggest show to date at Sydney's Metro.
The UNDR Ctrl team were in full affect at BigSound with Total Giovanni, Ara Koufax, MUTO, Annie Bass and Polographia all winning new fans. The Island LIVE returned for Season 4 on Sydney Harbour with The Aston Shuffle and Bag Raiders headlining the launch party. MUTO hit the road again, this time supporting Odesza on some huge shows around Europe and Electric Gardens Festival announced their Southern Sounds Arena, as curated by UNDR Ctrl and featuring Motez, Young Franco, Roland Tings, Kilter and more!
We were treated to the long awaited return of bitbird head honcho San Holo - now one of the world's hottest artists in the future bass scene. He sold out all shows on the tour, and brought along new UNDR Ctrl international recruits and his label mates DROELOE for the ride plus Just A Gent to complete the hat trick! Keep an eye out on DROELOE, with big things expected in 2018.
In collaboration with Motorik we introduced and sold out our first festival - Output, held on Goat Island in Sydney Harbour National Park. Optimo and Mall Grab were amongst the artists, set over 3 stages on a scorching summers day! Output Festival will return in 2018 ;) Elsewhere, Polographia released their new jam 'Heart Attack' and Roland Tings dropped summer banger 'One Hundred'. Set Mo smashed it at Harbour Life and Ara Koufax debuted in the US.
Big finale to the year with Musica Copa taking place for the 5th time. A total of $52,000 has now been raised for charity with Universal Music beating Spotify in the grand final! MUTO was named the 2nd most played artist on Triple J Unearthed. Amongst the many upcoming festival highlight Total Giovanni are preparing for the national Falls Festival run, Set Mo are playing Rhythm & Vines, Beyond the Valley and Field Day and Luen Jacobs and Purple Sneakers are rocking out at NYE in the Park.
