AROHA (NZ)

Aroha Harawira, originally hailing from New Zealand and now making waves in Melbourne, is a dynamic producer and DJ redefining the sonic landscape. Known for her electrifying performances and deep knowledge of music, AROHA's sets are a fusion of house and techno, infused with elements of breakbeat, electro, footwork, and UK bass, forging a unique and irresistible signature sound. As a solo artist and one-half of the duo AROHA & TALI, alongside award-winning MC TALI, she's not just a DJ; she's a curator of experiences that leave audiences buzzing.

From her early days as a prime-time radio host, including for the iconic electronic music station George FM, to gracing the decks at some of the most prestigious festivals, she has blazed a trail that's all her own. Her magnetic presence and genre-blurring sets have earned her accolades, including being voted as New Zealand's Best Club DJ, and repeat invitations to open for heavyweights like Disclosure.

AROHA's impressive list of performances includes celebrated festivals like Beyond The Valley, WOMADelaide, Let Them Eat Cake, Rhythm & Vines, Northern Bass, and Electric Avenue. She has headlined shows and played parties supporting luminaries like Kaytranada, Ben UFO, Grace Jones, Jazzy Jeff, Chase & Status, Justin Martin and many more.

In 2020, AROHA unveiled her debut EP, “No More Jenga,” an exploration of experimental house, bass, and post-dubstep sounds. The release and remixes, including versions by Luke Alessi and Tokyo Prose, garnered global attention and airplay, including by RÜFÜS DU SOL and Dillinja, and found their place on Spotify editorial playlists and in Top 10 radio spots.

Since then, AROHA has continued to make her mark, releasing remixes for artists like POOLCLVB, Antix, and Kédu Carlö, as well as original tracks such as “Pūrerehua” and "Escape to Eora Country,” the latter of which was selected by CC:DISCO! for her “Track IDs” Spotify editorial playlist.

AROHA's journey ramped up in the last year with her debut Boiler Room set at Hidden Valley festival, plus she completed a whirlwind 16-date tour across Australia and New Zealand alongside The Jungle Giants. She also graced the UK with sets at famous London clubs including "Lady Shaka and Friends" (Colour Factory) and Heidi's "Hi-Jacked” residency (XOYO).

Early 2024 heralds the debut single of AROHA & TALI as a duo; "These Walls," a commanding House/Electronic Pop anthem which further cements these trailblazing women’s decade-long performance partnership. With remixes spanning Drum & Bass, Breakbeat, House, and Garage from Dope Ammo (UK), Borai (of Borai & Denham Audio - UK), Dick Johnson (UK/NZ), and Caru (NZ) receiving support from Oliver Dollar, Sam Divine, Zombie Disco Squad, SHOUSE, Vanilla Ace & many more.

AROHA has been busy playing sets at Southern Hemisphere festivals including Pitch Music & Arts, Beyond The Valley and Gaytimes and touring with TALI to celebrate their new single, and has more solo shows coming up in Australia in May and June to announce soon.
